We are recruiting for a Project Manager for an established rolling stock refurbishment and maintenance organisation in the Swansea area. The company focuses in train refurbishment, coded exams, vehicle enhancement, modification and heavy maintenance projects.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous project management experience preferably gained within the rail / rolling stock sector.
- Knowledge of the repair and refurbishment of railway rolling stock and multi-unit fleets. Prior experience in the planning, design and on-going delivery of projects within the rail industry is advantageous.
- Ability to lead a team to deliver a project safely, on time and to budget.
- Ability to present project performance to internal and external stakeholders when required.
- Ability to read and interpret industry drawings and specifications as required.
- Qualifications in project management, business management or associated fields e.g. PRINCE2, business undergraduate degree is desirable.
The main duties will include:
- To be responsible for the successful delivery of rolling stock improvement projects ensuring that they are delivered on time, within budget and to an excellent quality.
- To be the project lead and manage all aspects of the project delivery at site level from contract award to successful completion of the project.
- To undertake regular project reviews internally with the project team and with the customer to monitor project performance.
- To report project KPI’s to the customer and internally as required.
- To engage and liaise with external third-party suppliers, on site customers, visitors and other business stakeholders where necessary to ensure on time project delivery and visibility to all parties involved.
- To work cross-functionally with other in-house departments such as procurement, operations and engineering teams to ensure quality, cost and delivery goals are met.
- To manage the project budget including all materials and staffing costs and regularly report to projects director and commercial director.
- To work alongside depot management, production managers and artisan staff to maintain a safe and tidy workshop to ensure all tasks are completed to the highest quality within the production deadlines set.
