Job Title: Project Manager
Location: Based in a South London Depot, with regular travel to Cambridge. One day per week working from home.
Contract Duration: 12–18 months
Working Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday (Day Shifts)

Overview:

Our client is seeking a Project Manager to join its Infrastructure Team on a temporary basis. This role will focus on supporting the introduction of a new station, managing the project lifecycle from planning to operational readiness. The successful candidate will work closely with internal stakeholders and external partners such as Network Rail to ensure the project is delivered safely, on schedule, and in compliance with industry regulations and standards.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of infrastructure projects, ensuring all objectives are met.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, including external partners and internal teams.
  • Define project scope, timelines, deliverables, and resource needs.
  • Monitor budgets, schedules, and project performance using appropriate tools.
  • Conduct risk assessments, maintain quality assurance, and ensure health and safety compliance throughout project delivery.
  • Track and report on project progress, providing updates to all key stakeholders.
  • Implement changes and interventions to improve delivery outcomes and project efficiency.
  • Support integration activities to ensure seamless station introduction into operational service.

 

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience managing technical infrastructure projects.
  • Proven background in both rail and construction sectors is essential.
  • Strong track record of delivering rail infrastructure or station introduction projects.
  • Sound knowledge of Network Rail standards and processes related to new station commissioning.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project planning software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
  • Familiarity with health, safety, and environmental regulations within the rail industry.
  • Ability to lead and motivate multidisciplinary teams in high-pressure environments.

 

Desirable Qualifications and Certifications:

  • Degree qualified in an engineering or technical discipline (preferred).
  • Project management qualifications (e.g., APM, PRINCE2).
  • PTS and SMSTS certifications (desirable).

 

Additional Information:

  • A travel card will be provided for work-related travel.
  • Candidates must be flexible to travel between depots/sites as needed.
  • Face-to-face interviews will be conducted as part of the selection process.
