Major Train Operating Company – Resourcing 27 x Vehicle Maintainers within a time critical window
12 weeks to deliver 27 Vehicle Maintainers in time for pre-booked training package.
Later training package could not be accommodated as the ToC were due to receive new vehicles and would not be able to put them into service without vehicle maintainers.
Planning: successful delivery planned around the core aspects of the recruitment activity and ToC deadlines; a detailed Critical Path Analysis (CPA) was provided indicating key dates, the relationships between the activities and responsibilities to ensure project completion kept on track
Managed Process: Clemtech were responsible for organising & managing the interview/assessments at site including the use of Mechanical & Electrical Trade Test Papers
Reporting: on completion of the interview process reports were compiled on each candidate; a scoring system and a short report from the Operations Team were used to determine suitability for depot operations
Confidence: The Clemtech Operations Team consist of T&RS professionals who have held senior depot management positions; as a further endorsement of the ToC’s confidence in our ability to identify the right calibre of individuals to match their operational requirements, we were additionally tasked with selecting the successful candidates.
Documentation: documentation packs were produced on all candidates including; Interview briefing and declaration form, Trade Test Papers, Personal Information Form, Rehabilitation of Offenders Declaration, ‘eligibility to work in UK’ compliance, vocational qualifications and references
Medical & D&A screening: Clemtech organised Safety Critical Medicals and D&A screenings for all the successful candidates utilising the services of our retained Occupational Healthcare provider
On-going site support: to ensure the smooth integration of the new candidates to the established depot teams Clemtech provided on-going site support; this typically included worker reviews and site inspections, briefing candidates on shift patterns/site procedures, AWR issues, bespoke timesheet management, and the on-going management of any medical issues i.e. return to work medicals from illness/injury
