Team Leader (Glasgow)

The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate a wide knowledge of on-board train systems with large emphasis on fault finding, as well as being capable of providing technical support to the technicians when required.

You will need:

  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering
  • 3 years post apprenticeship experience
  • Have Diagnostic experience
  • Must be able to interpret electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic schematic diagrams
  • Valid Driver’s Licence
  • Available for shift work (Days & Nights including weekends)
  • Applicants from the rail industry, an automotive or aerospace background will be considered
  • Applicants from the forces or an automotive or aerospace background will be of particular interest
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and classify work in terms of safety and the impact on the train’s performance are essential

You will need to be experienced in:

  • Large diesel engines and transmissions
  • High voltage diesel generator sets
  • HVAC systems
  • High pressure pneumatics

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervision of a small team of Technicians
  • Planning and organising of warranty repairs
  • Liaising with customer at all times to ensure that train availability and reliability targets are achieved

This role may suit you if

You have worked previously as a Team Leader or Supervisor within the Rail industry or are an experienced electrical or mechanical or dual skilled rolling stock technician looking to progress and live within a commutable distance of Glasgow e.g. Hamilton, East Kilbride, Kilmarnock, Paisley, Dumbarton, Killearn, Fintry, Stirling, Falkirk, Livingston and Lanark etc.
