Head of Industrialisation & Mobilisation
|Salary:||to £55,000 per annum plus contributory pension|
We are currently seeking to recruit a Head of Industrialisation & Mobilisation for our Rolling Stock overhaul client.
Working within the Operations function this pivotal role will be responsible for supporting the profitable growth of our client by differentiating its performance against competitors through the deployment of operational excellence.
This pursuit of operational excellence will deliver reliable Rail Vehicle Units or Components consistently on time, quicker than competitors, and at lower operating costs.
The Head of Industrialisation & Mobilisation will lead the development of internal processing capability, moving the site towards the compelling vision of a future state including its layout, the way Units flow, the processes for converting Units, the disciplines relating to safety and quality, the performance culture based upon continuous improvement, and the visual management systems that underpin the desired leadership processes.
They will be responsible for leading their team by applying the appropriate leadership style depending upon the wide-ranging competency of individuals and teams. This will require a clear and detailed improvement plans with clear prioritisation of resources. There will be a strong requirement to coach and sometimes direct individuals and teams towards objectives defined from the improvement plans.
This is not a management role; rather it is a leadership position.
The focus is on creating tomorrows business rather than running today’s business.
Reporting to the Operations Director and based at Milton Keynes the role will give you the opportunity to
Industrialise complex projects (footprint, flow, investment, process definition, standard work ……)
Analyse and understand scope of work within overhaul and refurbishment specifications and modification procedures
Determine the optimal sequence and required time for each work task, reflecting this in a Standard Work diagram
Align BoM’s to routings and routings to Standard Work sequence
Identify safety critical tasks and prescribe necessary risk mitigation controls within Standard Work
Develop industrialisation implementation project plans and lead the assigned project teams to ensure
Report on progress timely and accurately
Embed learning into future industrialisation projects
Challenge existing ways of working, identifying and quantifying waste.
Teach, coach, and where necessary direct front line leaders and their teams to improve ways of working so as to eliminate waste and reduce labour costs.
To meet the demands of the role and to make the difference we believe you will bring it's expected you will have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in a manufacturing and production environment, at least 5 of which would be in a leadership position.
If you have a proven track record of delivering operational excellence through the application of Lean principles methodologies and techniques as a Lean Practitioner, good knowledge of safety policies and legal regulations within the UK and the EU regarding plant and posses the following qualities
