Mechanical Engineer (BEng)

In addition they have also established themselves as a leader in the re-engineering of traction equipment, from component enhancement to complete locomotive design
We have a requirement for a Group Engineer – Mechanical to join the Engineering team. This department is responsible for generating the specifications, drawings and manufacturing information for the production of new, overhauled or re-manufactured railway vehicles and equipment.
Preferred candidates will have a practical “hands on “approach to engineering problems, and have a degree or equivalent which is related to some or all of the following:- Mechanics, Dynamics, Structures and Structural Analysis, Pneumatics and Hydraulics, Acoustics, Air Management, & Power Trains
Engineering experience in a railway environment is essential with preferably a minimum of 5 years experience; the candidate will preferably be working towards Chartered status.
You will be expected to lead a small group of Mechanical Engineers and undertake the following duties:
To ensure that relevant aspects of the departmental objectives are met
Allocation and progressing of work within the group to ensure the compliant and timely completion of design activities
Identify the quality and skill of resources required to engineer a project within the allotted timescale
Ensure that personnel within the group are adequately supervised according to their level of experience
Liaise with Project Management, customers and other departments as required
Ensure that technical standards are maintained within the group
Responsible for ensuring that all aspects of Reliability, Safety and Maintainability are considered in preparing and verifying design information
